Be ready for HEAT with this easy, frozen doggie TREAT!

Extremely high temperatures are forecast all over North America for the rest of the week. Here in Seattle, temps in the mid-nineties are expected. Many homes and businesses don’t have air conditioning, and staying cool often requires creativity.

Our window air conditioners struggle to keep up on particularly steamy days, and our two pugs start panting a mile a minute. In an effort to keep our pups cool and hydrated during this especially warm week, I whipped up some doggie ice cream treats!

You could use a mixer, food processor, or blender, but honestly, I used a spoon and was able to mix them up very quickly, and it was fast and easy to get them ready to freeze with just a few minutes of preparation.

I opted for a two-ingredient recipe for my first effort. I used 24 ounces each of plain yogurt, and natural peanut butter. I chose Harvest Day creamy organic peanut butter because it’s smooth, creamy, and blend-able, as well as being high quality and certified organic. I chose Tillamook Pure and Simple plain Greek yogurt because of its high-quality, local ingredients. Both of these items were available from Grocery Outlet, making the total cost around $7. That’s about the same as a little 5.5 oz. store-bought container of doggie ice cream.
